OMAHA, Neb. – The North Dakota State men’s golf team shot a 297 in the opening round Monday, as the Bison opened the 2020-21 season at the Maverick Invitational at the Creek.
Brock Winter and Jack Johnson led the way for the Bison, as they are tied for fourth with a 73. Winter had three birdies in the opening round, while Johnson added a pair. Nate Adams had a birdie on the second hole, as he sits in a tie for 10th with a 75. Lucas Johnson is tied for 14th after shooting a 76 that included a birdie on the second hole. Gavin Cronkhite had three birdies on the back nine, as he rounded out the Bison lineup with a 77 to sit in a tie for 21st.
Playing as an individual, Nate Deziel is tied for sixth with a 74. Deziel had four birdies in the round, including three on the back nine. Jed Baranczyk is tied for 28th after shooting a 79 in the first round. Baranczyk had a birdie on the 10th.
Bellevue has the team lead with a 288 after the first round. The Bruins’ Floris-Jan Oosterhof and Rodrigo Navarette are tied for the individual lead after shooting a 70 in the opening round.
The final day gets underway at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Indian Creek Golf Course.
