Noem outlines her approach to pandemic

(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem is addressing her approach to the COVID-19 pandemic. Noem took the first moments of her budget address to lawmakers yesterday in silence as a way to remember the over one-thousand South Dakotans who have died from COVID-19. She followed by saying that it isn’t “the government’s role” to issue lockdowns or set mandates. The governor also said that the state hasn’t shut down businesses or closed churches because she doesn’t believe the government should be in the practice of deciding what businesses are essential.
