(Sioux Falls, SD) — Vaccination for COVID-19 is underway in South Dakota. Avera Hospital administered the first doses of the newly approved Pfizer vaccine to arrive in the state yesterday. The vaccines came to the state directly from Pfizer’s plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Three frontline healthcare workers were the first to receive the inoculation. The remainder of the first shipment will continue to go to frontline healthcare providers, ICU and COVID floor workers, and long-term care staff.
