Train Carrying Bakken Crude Derails In Washington State

(Whatcom County, WA) — An investigation is underway into the derailment of a train in Whatcom County, Washington that was carrying Bakken crude oil. Seven tank cars on the 108-car BNSF train went off the tracks yesterday morning and two caught fire. The area was temporarily evacuated, and several roads were closed. Two BNSF employees were on board, but no one was injured. The train was headed to the Phillips 66 refinery in Ferndale.
