Cleanup Of Trainwreck Carrying ND Crude Oil May Take Months

(Whatcom County, WA) — BNSF officials say the cleanup of a fiery derailment of a train carrying North Dakota crude oil may take months. Justin Piper said yesterday that the cleanup effort in Whatcom County, Washington is underway and fires have been put out. Crews are working to recover product from hold cars, as well as spilled oil in a nearby ditch or may have contaminated water. Piper says teams will be brought in to help remove the cars from the site and clean them up.
