(Bismarck, ND) — A popular Bismarck Christmas light display is damaged after strong winds blew through. Wind gusts neared 50 miles per hour in the city yesterday and damaged parts of the display at the Chmielewski family home. A porcelain Nativity scene was destroyed. Kathy Chmielewski said yesterday that the Nativity was special and something she wanted to pass on to her children. The family has been decorating the home on Kennedy Avenue and 23rd Street for over 15 years. Hundreds of visitors come to see the display during the holidays.
