Noem Wants Money To Prepare For Legalization Of Marijuana

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is asking the Legislature for more than four-million dollars so the state can start preparing for the legalization of medical and recreational marijuana. The Revenue Department wants the funding to get set up to regulate and collect taxes on the substance. South Dakota voters approved measures November 3rd legalizing the substance for medical and recreational use. Noem has arranged for private law firms to challenge the measures, with the first hearing set for January 27th.
