(Union County, SD) — A man is dead and two people are injured after a collision in Union County. The crash happened Friday evening on Interstate Highway 29 south of Elk Point. Officials say the driver of a Ford F-150 lost control on the icy road and crossed the median, colliding head on with a Yukon. The 57-year-old male driver of the F-150 was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 58-year-old female passenger was taken to the hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. The 49-year-old female driver of the Yukon was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The crash is under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
