WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven and Senator Kevin Cramer opposed the nomination of Dr. Janet Yellen to serve as Secretary of the Treasury.
North Dakota’s senior senator said “I opposed Secretary Yellen’s confirmation because I believe her policies are counter to what is best for the people of North Dakota. She supports increasing taxes and repealing parts of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Additionally, I am concerned by her past support of a carbon tax, as well as her support for using Treasury Department resources to advance environmental and climate goals.”
Senator Cramer said “She seems too eager to raise taxes on the American people, her energy policies are job killers.”
Yellen was confirmed as the first female Treasury secretary in US history.
