(Undated) — Cases of chronic wasting disease among deer have jumped in number. Game and Fish Department officials say 18 deer killed by hunters last fall tested positive for CWD. Of the 44 cases discovered in the state, 30 happened in just the past two years. Game and Fish Wildlife Veterinarian Charlie Bahnson says the accelerated growth is cause for concern. The disease has been detected in wild deer, elk or moose in 24 states and two Canadian provinces.
