Bill To Keep Genetic Tests From Being Used To Deny Life Insurance

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota lawmakers want to prevent genetic tests from being used to deny life insurance coverage. A new bill would also prohibit life insurance and long-term insurance providers from requiring applicants to submit DNA results to obtain coverage. Requiring a DNA test to determine rates provided by health insurers, hospitals, and medical providers is already prohibited.
