(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota’s Attorney General is indicating his office will not appeal a court decision that ruled that South Dakota’s recreational marijuana amendment violated the state constitution. AG Jason Ravnsborg’s spokesman said in a statement that the office believes it has fulfilled its obligation to defend state law in the case disputing Amendment A that would legalize recreational marijuana and will not be participating in appeals. Executive Director of New Approach South Dakota Melissa Mentele says the Attorney General has “abdicated his responsibility to represent the people of South Dakota.” The organization came out in support of Amendment A.
