(Washington, DC) — Both North Dakota senators are among those who voted to acquit former President Trump during his second impeachment trial. Senators voted 57 to 43 Saturday to convict Trump, well below the two-thirds threshold required. Trump had been impeached on a charge of inciting last month’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. North Dakota Republican Kevin Cramer says he didn’t believe the Constitution gave the Senate authority to hold a trial for a former president. North Dakota Republican John Hoeven said he too believed that the trial was unconstitutional.
