ND Lawmakers Rework Power Grid Reliability Legislation

(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota lawmakers are reworking power grid reliability legislation. The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee scrapped the original proposal yesterday that would have required wind and solar farm operators to back up their power output with electricity from sources like coal and natural gas. The amended version endorsed by the committee requires the state to put together an annual report about the strength of the power grid. The legislation is being debated as rolling blackouts have happened this week because of stress on power grids in multiple states.
