Down Syndrome Bill Heads To SD Senate

(Pierre, SD) — A bill that would ban abortions performed because of a possible or actual Down syndrome diagnosis is headed to the South Dakota Senate. Governor Kristi Noem’s office introduced the bill that would bring criminal penalties to medical providers who performed Down syndrome-related abortions. The state House passed the bill yesterday afternoon, which will now go to a Senate committee.
