(McKenzie County, ND) — State game officials are investigating after two bull elk were illegally shot and killed in McKenzie County. No meat was taken from either animal, but the head of one elk was cut off. A taxidermist can’t legally mount a big game head without proper documentation that it was legally taken. The elk were found northeast of the McKenzie County Road 55 roundabout. Officials believe they were shot the afternoon or evening of February 17th.
