SD House Bill Would Affect Classification of Agricultural Land

(Pierre, SD) — A proposed change in the tax code would affect how agricultural land is classified. The House bill would classify land as agricultural if its “principal use” is agricultural. To earn the designation, the landowner must have earned at least 25-hundred dollars in annual gross income pursing agricultural use on the parcel. The designation allows for certain tax breaks.
