National Health Guidelines Recommend Pause In Use of J&J COVID Vaccine

The State Health Department is following national guidelines and recommending to vaccination points that the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine be kept in inventory but not be administered following a half-dozen reports nationally that women who had received the vaccine had suffered a rare and severe type of blood clot.

There have been no reports of that happening in North Dakota. The CDC and FDA both recommended a temporary pause in the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

According to a statement from CDC, more than 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen ) vaccine have been administered in the U.S.
