(Bismarck, ND) — The operator of the Dakota Access Pipeline is planning to take a longstanding fight over the oil pipeline to the U.S. Supreme Court. Energy Transfer filed a document with the court yesterday showing that the company will challenge the ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit on the five-year lawsuit. DAPL operators haven’t filed a formal appeal yet. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s lawyer says he doesn’t believe the appeal will affect a decision expected soon on whether the line must stop operating while its permit remains revoked.
