(Bismarck, ND) — A new law will require long-term care facilities to allow designated essential caregivers to visit residents during a declared emergency. Governor Burgum signed the bill yesterday, which passed with overwhelming support. The Department of Human Services and long-term care facilities will have to rework their visitation policies to make residents more available for in-person visits during a declared emergency. Residents will be allowed to have one person “provide in-person physical, spiritual, or emotional support” during times of restricted visitation. The person can be a health professional or a relative.
