Some Aberdeen Central Students Don’t Like School’s Unity Week

(Aberdeen, SD) — Some Central High students in Aberdeen are expressing vulgar opinions about their school’s Unity Week. School officials say some students took to Snapchat and Facebook last week to air negative comments about the activities that were intended to celebrate all people. Many posts included LGBTQ slurs, and some reacted by calling the comments hate speech. Superintendent Becky Guffin says there hasn’t been any violence, but that the comments are inappropriate.
