Noem Says No Mask Mandate Following CDC Announcement

(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem says she will not implement any kind of COVID-19 mandate in South Dakota following new guidance released by the CDC. The CDC announced new guidance yesterday urging vaccinated and unvaccinated people to wear masks indoors in regions where the COVID-19 transmission rate is high and substantial. Noem says the CDC is being inconsistent, and that South Dakota continues to have a low amount of cases. The governor says it is up to people worried about the virus whether they stay home, get vaccinated, or wear masks.
