NDHP Trooper Cleared In September Mandan Shooting

(Mandan, ND) — A North Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper will face no charges in connection with a line-of-duty shooting in Mandan in early September. Prosecutors decided this week that Trooper Steven Mayer was justified in the shooting death of a man on I-94 while assisting with a traffic stop. The patrol released video of the incident late Tuesday along with reports from several agencies and the letter from the state’s attorney’s office declaring the shooting justified. The victim’s father says he supports the decision.
