SD Lawmakers Want Action On Alleged COVID-19 Religious Exemption Denials

(Pierre, SD) — Some lawmakers want action after they say South Dakotans are being denied medical and religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine. A group of Republicans from the state House and Senate issued a formal call for a special session yesterday to take up the issue. The group wants to introduce legislation that would make it illegal for employers, businesses, or schools to deny a request for a medical or religious exemption from the vaccine. Governor Kristi Noem says the government doesn’t have the right to dictate what employers can require from their workers.
