Xcel Not Increasing SD Electricity Prices

(Pierre, SD) — Xcel Energy says it won’t be increasing electricity prices in South Dakota by much. The company said yesterday it has requested a 20-percent rate hike in Minnesota. The Minneapolis-based utility also operates in North and South Dakota and officials say pricing for each of the three areas is set independently. Company officials say South Dakota rate will increase slightly because of a rise in natural gas prices.
