9-1-1 Call Centers Seeing Staff Shortage

(Vermillion, SD) — Emergency call centers across the nation, and right here in South Dakota, are experiencing major staff shortages. Ryan Anderson with the Communications Center in Vermillion says they’ve been under-staffed since early spring. He tells “Dakota News Now” the pandemic is a big factor, but so are the odd hours an operator has to work. Anderson advices anyone who calls 9-1-1 to stay on the line until they’re helped. He says “never hang up.”
