Thousands At Sanford Health Apply For Exemptions As Vaccination Deadline Arrives

(Sioux Falls, SD) — Thousands of Sanford Health employees have requested exemptions as the company’s deadline to get vaccinated for COVID-19 has arrived. Employees had until yesterday to get vaccinated or get an exemption based on health or religious reasons. The health system hasn’t said how many employees in the state are being suspended. Sanford Health’s chief physician in South Dakota Dr. Jeremy Cauwels says employees that haven’t started the vaccination series or gotten an exemption face a suspension of up to 60 days without pay.
