Mitchell Board of Education Drops Mask Mandate, Changes to Recommendation

(Mitchell, SD) — The Mitchell Board of Education has voted to drop its mask mandate for anyone inside its buildings during the day, and to make it a recommendation instead. Superintendent Joe Graves says the change takes effect immediately. The school board took the action at its meeting last night. Graves had proposed the change in the mandate after talking with local health officials and because COVID-19 case numbers in the district have fallen. Right now, there are five active cases among the district’s five schools.
