Redistricting Debate Paused After House Majority Leader Experiences Medical Emergency

(Pierre, SD) — Negotiations over redistricting in South Dakota are on hold after the House majority leader experienced a medical emergency. House negotiations were paused yesterday after Majority Leader Kent Peterson was taken from the building on a stretcher to the hospital. The nature of the emergency hasn’t been released. House Speaker Spencer Gosch says Peterson is expected to make a full recovery and may return to the House as soon as today to continue work on redrawing legislative boundaries.
