OSHA Hits Smithfield Meats With Fine

(Sioux Falls, SD) — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is hitting Smithfield Packaged Meats with a fine. OSHA released information this week that it is citing the company for failing to “provide a workplace free from recognized hazards that can cause death or serious harm.” Nearly 13-hundred workers contracted COVID-19 in the spring of 2020, and four employees died. The company must pay a fine of over 13-thousand dollars.
