South Dakota Parents Hesitant About Child COVID-19 Vaccination

(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota’s parents are hesitant about getting their young children vaccinated for COVID-19. Only about one in 20 eligible children in the state have been vaccinated after the shot has been available for nearly a month. A data analysis by the U.S. Census and federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed last Monday that South Dakota has the lowest child vaccination rate of all Great Plains states. Only about three-and-a-half percent of eligible children ages five-to-eleven had gotten at least on dose of the Pfizer vaccine by last Monday.
