Hearing Set For Standing Rock Road Washout Deaths Case

(Standing Rock Indian Reservation, ND) — A hearing is set for a lawsuit that centers around responsibility in the deaths of two people on a washed out road on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. Families of the two dead and two injured are suing the Bureau of Indian Affairs arguing it had a responsibility to inspect and maintain the culvert along BIA Highway Three. The federal government has filed a motion to dismiss the case, arguing the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe was responsible for maintaining the road. The hearing is scheduled for January 19th.
