New Salem Man Pleads Not Guilty To Threatening Deputy Sheriff

(Morton County, ND) — An 86-year-old New Salem man is pleading not guilty after being accused of threatening to kill a Morton County deputy sheriff. Kenneth Groce is charged with felony simple assault on a peace officer, terrorizing, preventing arrest, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. An affidavit says Groce allegedly leaned into the driver’s door of Deputy Scott Austin’s vehicle and threatened to kill him after accusing the deputy of harassing him and his adult grandsons. He allegedly physically resisted Austin and made more threatening comments before other deputies arrived at the scene to help place him in custody.
