(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem’s proposed budget is focused on state employee and teacher raises, higher education programs, and investment in local projects. The Republican governor outlined her 2021 budget in an address to the South Dakota Legislature yesterday. Noem says raises are needed for state employees and teachers to help the workers make ends meet as inflation soars. She also wants funding for Dakota State University’s cyber-security training program as well as workforce training in all South Dakota technical colleges. Her budget also included investment in a number of high-dollar local projects.
