City Of West Fargo May Add Public Safety Sales Tax To Ballot

(West Fargo, ND) — The city of West Fargo is researching the idea of adding a half-cent public safety sales tax to the 2022 ballot for voter approval. City Administrator Tina Fisk says the additional money will add funding for the West Fargo Fire and Police Departments without having to initiate a large property tax increase. Fisk says there has been a rise in demand for services from the fire and police departments and that long-term budget forecasts indicate a need for large increases in funding. The city’s population rose by nearly 50-percent in the last census and is expected to rise to over 45-thousand by 2027, putting a strain on city emergency services.
