Noem Working to Ban CRT In Schools, Universities

(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem is working to ban the teaching of critical race theory in South Dakota schools, public universities, and technical colleges. Noem announced yesterday that she’s put together legislation to enact the ban. CRT focuses on how racism is embedded in legal systems and policies in the United States. Noem calls the theory a “false and divisive message.” Twenty-nine other states have introduced legislation or acted to restrict the teaching of critical race theory or discussion of racism and sexism.
