Omicron Variant Found In South Dakota

(Pierre, SD) — The omicron variant has been found in South Dakota. South Dakota was the final state in the country to confirm a COVID-19 omicron variant yesterday. South Dakota’s first case was found in a man in his 20s from Minnehaha County. Health officials say it’s safe to assume other cases are already present in the state. The variant was first discovered in South Africa and has spread around the world.

Over 460 new COVID-19 cases are being reported in South Dakota. Health officials announced the new cases yesterday, along with one new death. More than 71-hundred active cases are being reporting in the state.
