South Dakota Jobless Rate Remains Below National Average

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota’s unemployment rate remains below the national average. According to the most recent labor report, jobless claims dropped in the last week from 456 to 451 and the state’s unemployment rate stands at two-point-seven percent. The national average is four-point-two percent. Governor Kristi Noem has attributed the low jobless rate to the state’s decision to stay open while other shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic.
