SD Lawmakers To Consider Transgender Related Bills In 2020 Session

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota state lawmakers are set to consider several transgender-related bills in the 2022 legislative session. The South Dakota chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union says all of the bills deal with “discriminatory action” against people in the LGBTQ community. One bill set to come before lawmakers would ban transgender girls from participating in girls sports at the high school and college level in South Dakota. Governor Kristi Noem vetoed a similar bill during the last session.
