(Pierre, SD) — A pilot program that teaches inmates precision machining is launching at the Women’s Prison in Pierre. State Labor and Regulation Secretary Marcia Hultman says the program will provide the women with a valuable skill in a high-demand field while incarcerated. More than 300 jobs are expected to open in the precision-machining field within the next year in South Dakota. Classes will be taught in person at the Women’s Prison.
