State Attorney General Unable to Finance Office for Missing Indigenous People

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg has told state lawmakers he is unable to hire someone to head his office for missing indigenous people. The state legislature last year established a one-person office to coordinate law enforcement agencies in investigating missing indigenous people cases. It was not funded, however, and lawmakers had hoped state or federal funding could be found but Ravnsborg says he has been unable to find any money for the office.
