State Health Officials Address Omicron Surge And Stress Vaccination

(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota Department of Health is doubling down on the importance of being fully vaccinated to fight the highly contagious omicron variant. Officials held a town hall on Thursday, detailing the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and recent hospitalizations across the state. Data presented by the NDSU Center for Immunization Research and Education yesterday shows the omicron variant is about three-times more transmissible than the Delta variant. While omicron cases are generally less severe, that is not necessarily the case for those who aren’t vaccinated against COVID-19, health professionals say.
