Analysis On Race In ND Justice System Data To Begin

(Bismarck, ND) — An analysis of data collected over the past year on the race of defendants in the North Dakota court system is set to begin. Prosecutors have been required by rule to report the race perceived by law enforcement in officers’ reports and citation for all adult defendants. The judiciary’s Minority Justice Implementation Committee will be analyzing the data this spring and identifying any issues or disparities. State Court Administrator Sally Holewa says the initial goal is to form a starting point.
