SD Health Care Officials Urging Vaccinations As Omicron Cases Soar

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota health officials are strongly urging residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as cases of the omicron variant soar. Officials say new cases are slamming hospitals and that the pandemic is reaching “a whole new level.” Officials with Avera and Sanford Health spoke yesterday about the urgency of reducing the spread of the virus. Leaders from both systems say the majority of the hospitalizations are patients who are unvaccinated or not fully boosted.
