Bill Banning Telemedicine Abortion Headed To Noem’s Desk

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is indicating she will sign a bill banning telemedicine abortions in the state. The initiative originated from Noem’s office and would require patients in South Dakota to receive abortion-inducing drug from licensed physicians. Noem tweeted yesterday that the measure will “protect both unborn babies and their mothers from this dangerous procedure.” The bill would require adherence to current law requiring the first drug in the series to be taken under doctor supervision, but would also add a new requirement that the same happen for the second drug in the regimen.
