Sioux Falls Ethiopian Church Congregation Surveying Damage After Devastating Fire

(Sioux Falls, SD) — The congregation of St. Michael’s Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Sioux Falls is surveying the damage after a devastating fire. The fire severely damaged the church in the 600 block of South Dakota Avenue Monday, leaving behind fewer than a dozen Bibles that were recovered from the ashes. The basement is relatively untouched except for smoke damage, with the remnants of a meal that was being eaten at the time of the blaze still in place. No one was injured and fire officials haven’t released the cause of the fire. The church’s pastor says he isn’t sure where the congregation will celebrate services on Sunday.
