(Pierre, SD) — A legislative deal has been struck on nearly seven billion dollars worth of budget bills. The 97th Legislative session ended yesterday, but not before agreements were made on a package that would provide state employees, teachers, and community support providers with a six-percent raise. The Legislature also passed measures to spend millions on one-time construction projects and major initiatives to fund water and housing infrastructure. Another key measure resolved the issue of authority over federal COVID-19 funds, which required that the Legislature approve federal funding requests for any new programs or initiatives proposed by state agencies.
