Federal Judge Sentences Former SD Priest For Sex Crimes

(Sioux Falls, SD) — A former South Dakota priest is facing five years in prison for sex crimes. Marcin Garbacz entered into a plea deal in September on a charge of illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place. Four other charges were dropped, including possession of child pornography. Garbacz admitted to sharing the same hotel rooms with a 17-year-old boy on a Trip to Poland in 2011 and secretly shooting videos of him in the shower on his phone. He was assigned to a parish in Faith at the time. Garbacz is already serving a 20-year-federal prison sentence for the theft from South Dakota parishes of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
