Governor Noem Orders Escort, Support Signs For Anti-Vaccine Trucker Convoy

(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem’s office is facing questions for its warm welcome for an anti-vaccine mandate trucker convoy. Noem ordered a Highway Patrol escort as the convoy made its way across the state in early March and had supportive messages displayed on DOT road signs along their route. Ian Fury is with the Governor’s office and says the administration wanted to make sure the convoy felt respected while in the state. Fury says the escort was needed to ensure that the convoy made their way across South Dakota without disrupting traffic. Department of Transportation Secretary Craig Price said signs displaying “SD Loves Truckers” and “Drive Safe” were intended to “bring attention to the potential increase in traffic and provide a general safety message.”
