Third Period Struggles Doom Wild

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Wild had a bittersweet night after falling 6-2 to the Nashville Predators at the Xcel Energy Center. Before the game, they celebrated the 15-year Wild career of Mikko Koivu by retiring his number-nine jersey, but they followed the ceremony up by allowing three goals in a rough third period. Matt Boldy and Jordan Greenway each scored as the game was tied at two halfway through the second period, but the Predators got the next four goals to secure the win. Minnesota drops to 34-20-and-4 with the loss, and they’ll host the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.
